Our Story
In 1981, Patzer Woodworking’s founder, Tom Patzer, along with his wife, Sherri, turned a “hobby” into reality when Tom began building custom cabinetry out of their garage in Mitchell, South Dakota. “It was just me and the dog” he always jokes. The business soon expanded, operating out of two locations before moving to its current location at 414 E Juniper Ave, Mitchell, SD. Today, the building is 32,000 square feet and includes an extensive showroom and production area where their team of 25 designers, office staff, CAD operators and builders create customized cabinetry and countertops that fits each customer’s space and style. Together, the team designs, builds, and installs kitchens, bathrooms, offices, entertainment centers, bars, closets, and more. They also offer flooring and backsplash tile as both pair perfectly with a new build or home remodel.
Aside from residential cabinetry, half of our business is Commercial where we have had the privilege to work with a variety of contractors to build cabinetry for hospitals, schools, banks, etc.
The Patzer family feels blessed to have so many talented and loyal employees who have been with the company for more than 15 years. Part of that team includes Tom & Sherri’s children, Ryan Patzer and Amanda Neppl, who have worked for the business fulltime for a combined 28 years. The two, along with their father, became part-owners in 2018 and are now a proud part of the 2nd generation of Patzer Woodworking. Ryan manages the commercial sales department and Amanda manages the residential sales and design department. Wholeheartedly, the three of them believe that their employees, quality product and faith are a few of the reasons why they’ve had a successful business.
Celebrating over four decades in business has certainly been a proud accomplishment for Tom, Sherri, Ryan, Amanda and their families. Our company values are based on loyalty, passion, and family, and they along with the staff at Patzer Woodworking look forward to continuing to serve you and your family for many years to come!
